29 March, 2009: GB & Ireland

Hiya!

We’ve had a couple of quiet weeks on the Fiddlelore front, which is probably a good thing considering we are quite the bunch of sickos at the moment. But Penny has her map at long last! Not bad for $23.99 at Paper Plus! And it doubles as a sheet.

Cheerio!

 Hmm. Anyone you know?

Thanks to Mrs Cathy Torvik for a very lovely letter indeed :)

16 March, 2009: Exciting developments!

We started experimenting with some sound gear over the weekend - guess what it’s for! A BIG thanks to our friend Shane Stewart for letting us record a couple of demos - we can’t wait to get started on the real thing!

16 March, 2009: Medley Mayhem!

Just to prove that I do have footage of the concert, here’s a super quick edit (and super rough!) I did of a little treat Mark and Penny prepared for the concert:

Keep in mind that this is just camera audio, so yeah - No whinging about the quality, thanks.

Enjoy!

11 March, 2009: The Blog Begins…

Success! Having finally wrestled control from our ingenious overlord (one can never be too careful while the concert footage is in his hands) we are now endeavouring to keep this blog a little bit more up-to-date…

Many thanks to the Robertsons for their wonderful hospitality this weekend! Kathleen and I really enjoyed catching up with everyone at Laura’s 21st, and also got to hear (amongst others) a bit of Jon Sanders, Rod Redgrave, Dave Alley and Dave Khan the Mandolin Man - a real treat! Thanks for having us guys! Midnight swims, home made pizzas, sessions at all hours… what’s not to like?

Cheerio!

9 March, 2009: Viva la Revolución!

Well, I’ve been overthrown!

After several failed coup d’état’s, exacerbated by my always forgetting to update their site, the Fiddlelore gang have organised a grass roots rebellion and seized power over the site! Expect to see much more frequent updates, updates that had best finally inject some greatly needed personality into the site.
I thought as I sign off I ought to leave you with some of the comments and feedback that I had been too slack to publish, but had come to my attention since the March 1st, Fiddlelore with Mark Mazengarb concert:

“…amazing!”
“ 5 stars”
“ Would recommend and also see again.”
“I LOVE FIDDLELORE”
“Awesome concert on sunday night! I’ve been raving about it to anyone who will listen.”

Of course, I’m still pretty much indispensible to Fiddlelore, ensured by my position as the only one with the footage of this latest concert in my evil clutches, so I’ll just bide my time and wait for the opportune moment to reinstate my overlord status.

Until Then,
Zak

7 March, 2009: The March Concert

On March 1st, which happened to be Mark Mazengarb’s birthday, we put on 2 shows at Capitaine Bougainville Theatre in Whangarei. It was fantastic to be playing with Mark and we plan to do a lot more with him in the future!
Our focus now is going to be to record a CD this year, plus make a DVD from the concert footage.
Also, I’m going to get a large map of Scotland and we will start working out our 2010 tour of the country. (Any suggestions of places, people, festivals gratefully received! :-))

Talk Soon,
Penelope
